Mr. Ganesh our instructor took the time to answer any questions and explained the process step by step, making sure we understood what to expect. Once airborne, the sensation was incredible. The silence and smooth gliding made it feel like floating through the sky. The views were spectacular, with wide vistas of the surrounding nature, adding to the sense of awe. Mr. Ganesh was skilled in handling the paraglider, making the experience feel safe and controlled. I appreciated the attention to safety. The equipment was in excellent condition, and we were provided with proper gear, including helmets and harnesses. Mr. Ganesh was attentive and made sure all the necessary checks were performed before takeoff. One of the best experiences I have ever had! If you want to try out paragliding I would 100% recommend to try out sunrise. Our instructor had 15 years of experience and was extremely helpful though out the flight he even included the GoPro images pack for free! You can reach Kamshet by car, bike, or train. It’s accessible from the old Mumbai-Pune highway. The nearest railway station is Kamshet Station, just a few kilometers from the flying site.
Kamshet sits in the Sahyadri range about 19 km from Lonavala, 49 km from Pune and 102 km from Mumbai, which makes it the most accessible paragliding site in western India. Its ridges face the steady wind that funnels up the Pawna valley, so pilots get reliable lift for most of the day from October to May. Two well-established take-offs, Tower Hill and Shelar Hill, let us pick the safest launch for the day's wind. Add views of Pawna Lake, Lohagad and Tikona forts and open farmland for gentle landings, and you have the combination that has made Kamshet India's busiest tandem and training site.
Kamshet flies from October to May. October to February is the most comfortable window: cool, smooth morning air with light winds of roughly 10 to 15 km/h, which is ideal for first-time tandem passengers, and the reporting time is around 7:00 am. March to May brings stronger afternoon thermals and winds closer to 20 km/h, so flights are longer and higher and we shift to a 2:30 pm slot. The monsoon months of June to September are closed because rain and gusty winds make launching unsafe. If you want the calmest ride, book a winter morning; if you want the longest flight, book a summer afternoon.
