Get ready to fly with Sunrise Paragliding

The wait is almost over! The Kamshet paragliding season 2026–27 is about to begin, and adventure lovers from Pune, Mumbai, Lonavala and across Maharashtra are getting ready to experience the freedom of flying.

If paragliding has been on your bucket list, this is the perfect time to start planning your adventure. Located near Lonavala and within easy reach of Pune, Kamshet is one of Maharashtra's most popular destinations for tandem paragliding. Surrounded by the beautiful Sahyadri landscape, open skies and scenic flying sites, Kamshet offers an unforgettable experience for both first-time flyers and adventure enthusiasts.

And this season, Sunrise Paragliding Kamshet is ready to welcome you back to the sky.

When does the Kamshet paragliding season start?

The main flying season in Kamshet begins around October and continues through the winter and summer flying months until May, subject to suitable weather and flying conditions.

The monsoon period from June to September is not part of the tandem-flying season. As the skies clear and flying conditions become favourable, Kamshet comes alive with paragliding activity. October is therefore a great time to start planning your Kamshet paragliding experience — for a month-by-month breakdown of wind, slots and crowds, see our best time guide.

Weather and wind conditions can change, so every flight is ultimately subject to the pilot's assessment and suitable flying conditions on the day.

Why go paragliding in Kamshet?

Imagine running a few steps, feeling the wing lift, and suddenly finding yourself floating above the beautiful landscape. That is the magic of tandem paragliding.

Kamshet gives you the opportunity to experience this without needing previous paragliding experience. During a tandem flight, you fly with an experienced pilot who handles the paraglider while you sit back, enjoy the views and experience the thrill of being in the sky. From peaceful moments above the landscape to exciting turns and manoeuvres, your experience can be completely different from anything you have tried before.

Choose your Kamshet paragliding experience

Sunrise Paragliding currently offers three tandem experiences, allowing you to choose an option according to the type of adventure you want.

1. Joy Tandem — perfect for first-time flyers

Want to experience paragliding without taking control yourself? The Joy Tandem is a great choice. You simply sit back with your pilot and enjoy the flight while taking in the scenery from above. The Joy Tandem includes an approximately 8–10 minute flight, pilot-controlled flying and free GoPro photos and videos.

2. Instructional Tandem — experience more control

Looking for a more interactive experience? The Instructional Tandem allows you to learn more about flying while receiving guidance from your pilot. The ride lasts 10–15 minutes, with the passenger getting hands-on guidance during the experience. It is ideal for people who want more than simply sitting back.

3. Acro Tandem — for an extra dose of adrenaline

If you're an adventure lover looking for a more thrilling experience, the Acro Tandem offers an exciting flight with manoeuvres such as spirals, wing-overs and dives performed by the pilot over approximately 10–15 minutes. Acro flying is weather- and pilot-dependent and runs only when conditions allow it.

Not sure which suits you? Our tandem comparison guide walks through all three in detail, or check the packages page.

What does Kamshet paragliding cost?

One of the most common questions people search before visiting is: "How much does paragliding cost in Kamshet?" The price depends on the type of flight, duration and the day of your booking.

  • Joy Tandem: ₹2,999 weekday / ₹3,500 weekend
  • Instructional Tandem: ₹3,950 weekday / ₹3,999 weekend
  • Acro Tandem: ₹4,500 all week

GoPro photos and videos are included free with every package. The only extra is the shared jeep to the take-off hill — ₹600 per jeep, split between passengers. For the full breakdown including deposits, group discounts and a sample day-trip budget, read our Kamshet paragliding cost guide.

Is paragliding in Kamshet safe?

Safety should always be the first priority when choosing an adventure activity. Tandem paragliding is an adventure sport, and flying depends on weather, wind and site conditions. At Sunrise Paragliding, every pilot holds an APPI, BHPA or PAI licence; lead pilot Ganesh Shinde is APPI Pro Tandem certified with Advanced SIV and First Aid training.

Before every flight, passengers get a safety briefing and should follow the pilot's instructions carefully. Your pilot makes the final decision about whether the conditions are suitable for take-off and flying — if the weather says no, you can reschedule or take a full refund of your deposit.

What should you wear and carry?

You don't need special clothing for your first tandem flight, but comfortable outdoor clothing is recommended. We suggest:

  • Comfortable sports shoes
  • Comfortable trousers or track pants
  • A light jacket during cooler mornings
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and water
  • A valid ID proof

Avoid loose accessories or anything that could interfere with the equipment during the flight. And most importantly, arrive with an adventurous mindset!

What to expect on your first tandem flight

For many people, the first few moments before take-off are the most exciting. Your pilot will explain what you need to do before launching. Once everything is ready, you will take a few running steps with your pilot — and then the ground begins to disappear beneath you.

Instead of the feeling many people expect, tandem paragliding can be surprisingly smooth. Once airborne, you can relax in your harness and enjoy the hills, Pawna Lake and the surrounding Sahyadri landscape from an entirely new perspective. And with GoPro photos and videos included in every package, you can take home memories of your flight.
